As-Salama Ltd: Philanthropy Board

The As-Salama Foundation is an Islamic charity being established as a Public Ancillary Fund registered and constituted under Australian laws and governed by the board of directors of a not-for-profit trustee company, As-Salama Ltd.

Its core aim:

To provide charity to Australian Muslims and members of Australian society in need generally, in accordance with the Islamic tradition and following the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Powers
and Duties

1. Adopts the ‘As-Salama Philanthropy Charter’ to guide and inform its philanthropic decisions.

2. Conducts the affairs of the Trustee in conformity with its purposes and objectives, by overseeing and being responsible for all governance and compliance requirements of the As-Salama Foundation.

3. Raises and establishes funds for implementing and sustaining the aims and objectives of the Trustee.

4. Exercises powers to properly perform any other duties to manage the affairs of the Trustee.

Purposes and Objectives

1. To operate as a Not-for-Profit company limited by guarantee.

2. To make philanthropic decisions in pursuance of community development and relief work by Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) 1 charities.

3. To make shariah compliant investment decisions in pursuance of the Trustee’s self-sustaining activities and operations, as may from time to time be considered appropriate.
